Formulation
Lyophilized vaccine
Target species
Chickens and turkeys
Indications:
Used to protect healthy chickens and turkeys against Newcastle disease.
Contraindications
None.
Vaccination program
Safe for use at day-old age and above.
The most appropriate time for vaccination depends on local conditions, so a veterinarian should be consulted.
Dosage
1 dose per animal.
Method of application:
It can be administered via drinking water, spray or nose eye drops.
A. Spray method
The vaccine should be opened under cool water that does not contain chlorine and iron. The tools to be used for spray application should not be corroded and should not contain any residue (disinfectant etc.). The water containing the vaccine is applied to the determined number of animals from a height of 30-40 cm.
For one-day-old chicks, 0.25 liters of water is sufficient for 1000 chicks, thick droplet sprays should be used.
For older animals, 1000 doses of vaccine should be dissolved in 1 liter of water and fine droplet spray should be used.
B. Nose / Eye drop method
The vaccine should be dissolved in physiological saline (usually 30 ml for 1000 doses) and applied to the nose or eye from a height of a few centimeters using standard droppers. It should be ensured that the drops administered into the nose are taken (aerosol generators known to be safe for animals should be used).
Note. There is a special diluent for this application.
C. Drinking water method
Open the vaccine bottle under cool water that does not contain iron and chlorine, add 2 grams of skimmed milk powder to 1 liter of water so that the virus activity is preserved for a long time. Make sure that the water to which the vaccine has been added is consumed within 2 hours. Depending on the weather conditions, animals may be left without water for a certain period before vaccination. There should be a sufficient number of waterers, these waterers should be clean and should not contain detergent and disinfectant residues. Depending on the age of the animal to be vaccinated, 1000 doses of vaccine should be dissolved in a maximum of 40 liters of water.
Vaccination should be done early in the morning, this is the period when water consumption and coolness are the longest on hot days. If a large herd is to be vaccinated, it is recommended that the vaccine be divided. If the vaccination is to be done through nipple drinkers or dosing units, great care should be taken. The next higher dose should be selected for animal numbers between the standard doses.
Note. Especially in young animals, the spray and nose/eye drop methods are the methods that give the best results from the methods described above.
